Cambridge International qualification

At Clonard, we are great believers and supporters of quality education and are very excited to be able to offer our senior school learners the option of doing the Cambridge programme through us.

Why Cambridge?

Cambridge Assessment International Education is part of the well-known University of Cambridge. Their programmes and qualifications set the global standard for international education, created by subject experts and reflect the latest educational research.

They provide a strong platform for learners to progress from one stage to the next, and are well supported by teaching and learning resources. Cambridge is designed to prepare school students for life, helping them develop curiosity and a lasting passion for learning.

Every year, nearly a million Cambridge learners from 10,000 schools in 160 countries prepare for their future with an international education from Cambridge.

Cambridge IGCSE is the world’s most popular international qualification for senior school learners.  It is recognised by leading universities and employers worldwide – an international passport to progression and success. Developed over 25 years ago, it is tried, tested and trusted by schools worldwide.

Cambridge International Examinations are recognised by USA (Universities South Africa) for entrance to South African Universities and recognised by SAQA as an equivalent to the National Senior Certificate.

What we offer?

Clonard offers the Cambridge IGCSE programme (grade 10 and 11 equivalent) that runs over 2 years, followed by the AS level programme (matric equivalent) over 1 year.

We provide you with all the learning materials and teacher support to prepare you for the Cambridge exams.  Our teachers currently teach in Cambridge schools so are up to date with the curriculum and their support includes interactive Skype sessions with students.  Cambridge International Examinations are written at official examination centres throughout the country.

Cambridge offers a choice of about 70 subjects.  At Clonard we offer 8 of these key subjects: English, Afrikaans, Maths, History, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Business Studies and Accounting.

You will be supplied with a course pack containing everything that you need in order to prepare for the Cambridge IGCSE examination.  This pack includes:

  •             Full Syllabus
  •             Textbooks
  •             Work Schedules
  •             Answer guides
  •             Assignments (that we send out during the course of the programme)
  •             Clonard internal exams to prepare you
  •             Links to past Cambridge examination papers

If you would like to take a subject that we do not offer, you can register directly with Cambridge and you would then be responsible for your own studies and preparation for exams.

To pass the IGCSE level you need to complete 6 subjects over the 2 year programme period.

The fees?

We charge R6150 per subject for the full 2 year period for the Cambridge IGCSE programme.  So the cost for 6 subjects for 2 years will be R36 900.  The only other fees you will pay are to Cambridge directly for the final external Cambridge exams that you will be required to write to get your qualification.

The Cambridge programme is a tough programme designed for serious students that have a passion for learning and an ambition to excel in their chosen field on a global platform.
